Follow the instructions below to download and install Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on Windows.

Microsoft Reader is a discontinued Microsoft application for reading e-books, first released in August 2000, that used its own.LIT format.It was available for Windows computers and Pocket PC PDAs. Reader makes it easy to view documents, search for words and phrases, take notes, fill in forms, and print or share files. Also note that this app would be retired for Windows 10 Fall Creators Update 2017 and later. We recommend Microsoft Edge for reading PDF, Windows XPS Viewer for XPS and Windows Photos App for TIFF files. Before you install, always make sure that your system meets the minimum system requirements.

You need Windows 7 or later to run Acrobat Reader DC. If your operating system is older,

Follow these steps to install Acrobat Reader DC using Internet Explorer.

  1. Close all versions of Reader. Close any browser that is displaying a PDF.
  2. Go to the Adobe Acrobat Reader download page and click Install now.

    Note:

    You need Windows 7 or later to run Acrobat Reader DC. If you're running an older version of Windows, the Adobe Reader download page looks like this:

  3. When the file download message appears at the bottom of the browser window, click Run.

    Note:

    Acrobat Reader DC installation is a two-part process: The installer is downloaded, and then Reader is installed. Be sure to wait until both parts are complete. A progress bar displays the time remaining.

  4. When you see the confirmation message that the installation is complete, click Finish.

Follow these steps to install Acrobat Reader DC using Mozilla Firefox.

  1. Close all versions of Reader. Close any browser that is displaying a PDF.
  2. Go to the Adobe Acrobat Reader download page and click Install now.

  3. When the Opening dialog box appears, click Save File.

  4. Press Ctrl+J to open the download Library. When the download Library window appears, double-click the .exe file for Reader.

  5. If prompted to open the executable file, click OK.

  6. When you see the confirmation message that the installation is complete, click Finish.
